London Landlords, how much do you know about SELECTIVE LICENSING...?

Be aware, in 2024 two additional councils (Brent and Lewisham) will be starting their schemes and Barnet is also in consultation phase. 

This will mean that rented properties in selected parts of the boroughs will be required to have a license, regardless of size or number of tenants.

This is different to HMO and applies to ALL rented properties in the designated areas.

Licenses usually cost between £500-750 for 5 years, although some may cost more. 

You are usually required to provide copies of your Gas, Electric & EPC certs, a floorplan, photos of the property, plus details of your tenancy.
