Yesterday, we hosted the MediWales Finance and Funding Seminar at our Cardiff office. 💡🤝

The event brought together the community of life sciences and health technology businesses to explore the funding landscape and gain practical insights into securing investment to support innovation, growth and commercialisation.

🚀 The programme featured an investor panel, a company showcase, and presentations from grant funding providers and business support organisations.

Over lunch and refreshments, attendees also had the opportunity to network with funding providers and industry leaders in a more informal setting.

A particular highlight was seeing members of the Capital team, Kellsey Logue and Melanie Williams, contribute to a panel discussion on sector support and professional services. Chaired by Kellsey, the session explored the specialist advice and support available to life sciences and health technology companies as they seek funding and navigate growth.

➡️ It was a pleasure to host such an insightful event and bring together so many organisations committed to supporting innovation across this sector.

We started the day with coffee and pastries before Partner, Maria Coggins, from our Commercial team delivered an engaging session on Liabilities and Indemnities and updates to Data Protection laws🖋️

After lunch in Cegin, we continued with two insightful presentations from Partner, Phillippa Ellis, in our Commercial Disputes team, and Forensic Accountant, Paul Chadwick, covering topics such as Gifts and Hospitality, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering and offering practical, real-world guidance💡

Last year, Capital Law Partner Celine Jones represented Cardiff City FC before the French Senate, working alongside Mercedes Taffarel to push for greater accountability and oversight of agents involved in professional transfers.

These changes have now been enacted into Law No. 2026‑725 - a landmark reform shaped by our Sports team’s advocacy following one of football’s most significant tragedies.

In the latest article on the Capital Website, Celine Jones, together with Carrie Jones and James Minton break down the ‘Sala Amendments’ and how they mark progress for the protection of professional athletes.
