Many NRI women are made to feel like visitors in their own father’s family after marriage or migration.
Sometimes it is not said directly.
It happens when property discussions move forward without them.
When documents are not shared.
When they are told, “You live abroad now.”
When marriage is used as a reason to ignore their place in the family.
But an NRI daughter does not become a guest in her father’s home.
Under Hindu succession law, daughters have inheritance rights in India. In ancestral property, daughters have coparcenary rights by birth, similar to sons.
Her address may change.
Her distance may change.
Her surname may change.
But her legal identity does not disappear.
Before accepting family assumptions, the property type, will, documents, and legal heir position should be checked.
Settled abroad does not mean removed from the family tree.
