⚠️ Warning for drivers and passengers in Spain 🇪🇸
Recently, police in the Alicante region and other Costa areas have increased controls against illegal taxis and unlicensed private transport services.
📍 Checks are especially taking place: • at airports
• in tourist areas
• near clubs and bars
• within expat communities
🚕 If you transport people for money without a proper license, the risk is now very high.
Police are actively checking: ❌ illegal ride services
❌ transport arrangements through Facebook or WhatsApp
❌ private cars operating as taxis
⚠️ Possible consequences:
• heavy fines
• vehicle-related penalties
• insurance becoming invalid in case of an accident
• legal responsibility for both drivers and passengers
In some cases, passengers may also receive fines of up to €600.
💡 Important to understand:
Official taxis and licensed drivers in Spain: ✔ have proper insurance
✔ hold legal licenses
✔ meet safety requirements
That is why authorities are currently taking a much stricter approach toward illegal transport services.
