Who pays income tax in Spain? 🇪🇸💶
Even if you don't live in Spain for the whole year, you could still be considered a resident for tax purposes. Anyone who meets one of the following requirements must pay income taxes as a resident of spain:
📝You spend more than 183 days per calendar year in Spain. Sporadic absences are considered days of presence in Spain unless you can prove your tax residence status in another country or territory.
📝You have business or economic interests directly or indirectly located within Spanish territory. This year ALL SELF EMPLOYED must submit an income tax return regardless of their income amount.
📝You have a spouse or dependent children who are Spanish tax residents.

If you are a tax resident in Spain and have accounts, real estate, or investments abroad, you may be required to file Form 720.
👉 It is an informative declaration (it does not imply paying taxes) to report your assets outside Spain to the Tax Agency.

If in 2025 you applied for one or more Unique Rental Registration Numbers (NRUA) for the same property, you will be required to submit the Short-Term Rental Filing in February 2026.
