Just another early morning beach walk, watching the ferries leaving Alcudia (they are there, honestly. Somewhere on the right ⛴️)

That water is so cool and so refreshing as it's roasting inland. 🔥

August has come early and late 30s temperatures are here... the cats 🐈 are melting, as is all my soap! 🧼

Not something I ever considered before. Weird. 🫠

One day holiday at my favourite beach, Cala Fornells and lounging in the shade (it's seriously warm here and we've only just hit June. Bodes well for summer! 🏖️)

The sea is gorgeous here and I haven't been stung by any poxy jellyfish here either (looking at you Camp de Mar🪼!!)

10am on Alcudia beach – more sunbeds than people (lovely for a relaxing stroll and wee bit of paddle!) 🚶🏼‍♀️

On the way back at 11am, it was like the heavens had opened and dumped people on the beach.

You could hardly move for buckets and spades and tiny toddlers almost knee capping you with those cute little spades!! 🤣

Obviously, summer is nearly here! 😎

From torrential heavens have opened and emptied buckets of water on our heads to gosh it's rather warm, the wellie boots can go back in the cupboard and let's grab our flip flops all in the space of 2 days. ⛈️🏖️

All part of life on this quirky little island!

Today I had a leisurely morning stroll on Muro beach making the most of that sunshine.☀️

Lovely as rain is, it's fab to have the blue skies back and be able to sit outside with a lovely glass of rosado and a good book.🍷

And after yesterday's fantastic storm that created lots of work for electricians due to cables down, buzzing sockets and general Spanish electric madness🤪, today we have... this!

Glorious sun and oh, it's warm... and I'm enjoying a cortado☕in Cala San Vicenç.😎

To those of you in the UK who informed me that the weather was wonderful there yesterday – I'm very happy for you but I'd still rather be here even with biblical levels of rain!! 🤣

When we have a storm in Mallorca we REALLY have a storm in Mallorca.⛈️

So far today my power has gone off 6 times (currently typing by candle light🕯️) and the thunder is so loud I'm thinking of joining the cats under the bed... (it's seriously so loud out there it sounds like a bunch of giants are playing football with a piano🎹)

Ah well, at least I won't need to water the garden or top up the pool for a while!!😊

I kind of hope this seagull has moved into the mound it's perched on. It would be a lot cheaper than staying at a hotel with a similar view! 💰

I like to think of seagulls down at Ikea picking out furniture...

Seagulls here are just like in England. One of them nicked the piece of cheese I was munching on whilst sitting on a boat recently. Little swines they are. 🪽🧀

But never mind – at least this guy is letting me share the view! And on days like this, it's hard to be bothered about anything. Including losing your cheese. 😎

When I feel the need for a really panoramic, stupendous, miles of loveliness view, I head up the long and winding road (usually full of equally winding cyclists) to the Hotel Llenaire above the port for some coffee and cake

(hands up if you LOVE Mallorquin almond cake! 🍰 My waistline doesn't but who cares...😊)

But look at this view – sea, fields, the odd goat (somewhere – there are always goats), mountains and a rather fetching wall which I want to take home with me...🌊⛰️🐐

All I need is Brad Pitt posing somewhere in the middle and it would be perfect! 🤣

(we did get Tom Cruise recently doing something, but, meh. Not the same).

First beach day of the year in my happy place, Cala San Vicenç!😍

I just love plonking myself down in my wee deck chair and staring off into space whilst nursing a chilled rosado...🍷

I did dip a toe in the water, but it was too cold for me, unlike any number of other brave (aka mad) souls who were out there swimming. The water is always on the icy side in this little bay, so I prefer to keep my tootsies on dry land. Yes, I'm a wuss.

It was hotter than I was expecting and I got a little bit sunburnt – you'd think I'd have learnt by now...😁

Here's to more laid back days kicking back by the sea...🏖️

I'm making the most of the blue skies before we are hit by the Calima (Saharan dust) that is meant to be heading our way over the weekend, along with the rain. My favourite time of the year (can you detect the sarcasm??)😄

So, all our lovely outside terraces will be covered in a layer of brown grit, our pools will turn the colour of rust and will take hours to filter, and our cars will magically turn from white to... you guessed it, brown. 🙃

Next week there will be massive queues at car washes whilst we all desperately try to get the dratted stuff off...😁

But our gardens will be happy so every cloud etc...!🌱

Whilst sitting eating lunch at the beach (with a great view, natch!) a friend texted asking: "so, are you sick of living in Mallorca yet?" 🤨

I mean, where do I start... what exactly is there to be sick of? 🤔

The fabulous weather and never ending blue skies.☀️

The fact you can put your washing out and it doesn't get rained on (the novelty of this one is never going to wear off). 👚

The endless gorgeous beaches.🏖️

The fact people are cheerful (unlike the UK which at present seems to be in a state of permanent gloom)😊

The fact you can plan a barbecue without having a backup involving everyone huddling indoors whilst it rains outside. 🍖

The laid back lifestyle.

So no, not bored. Not in the slightest! 😎

Sometimes I don't post for a while as I look at my photos and think: "well, I have 2,000 of the same glorious scenes near where I live so let's not bore people with more of them!" 😁

But yesterday, as summer feels like it's making an appearance, and I'm fed up with the escalating misery that is the news (thanks America!), I trundled over to lovely Colonia de Sant Pere near Arta in my European car which fits down teeny tiny Spanish roads as long as we all breathe in, and it was so fab – lots of locals eating out, enjoying the sun, yet still peaceful and laid back.

My new favourite place to hang out!😊

I liked these cool stones in the picture. No idea why. Guess I'm just kind of a stone gal.🪨
