PROLAPSE IN CHICKEN

Poultry prolapse, or a prolapse vent in chicken is an avian anomaly wherein hen's vent or cloaca is inverted and pushed outside the body.

It is a life-threatening emergency caused by factors such as unbalanced nutrition, poor skeletal development, overweight, frequent laying of large, soft or double-yolked eggs and hormonal imbalances.

Quick sign and symptoms are protruding flesh, Blood streaked eggs and other birds pecking at the affected area.

Treatment and Prevention

⚡Isolate the bird
Move the affected hen to a quiet, warm and safe environment to prevent further injury from pecking.

⚡Warm water soak
Soaking the vent in warm water for 20-30 minutes can help relax the muscles.

⚡Lubricate
Gently apply liquid parrafin, petroleum jelly or olive oil around the vent to help ease the pr*****ed tissue back inside.

A MAN WITH VISION IS NEVER POOR.

You don't need to have millions before you can succeed in poultry business. What you need is vision.

A man with vision is never poor because vision opens his eyes to opportunities that others overlook.

In poultry farming, while some people only see high cost of feed, market fluctuation, and disease outbreak, a farmer with vision sees possibilities.

He plans his stocking cycle, keep proper record and connect directly with buyers like cold rooms, restaurants and schools.

Without vision, a farmer only reacts to problems and complain. He waits for prices to rise before he thinks of selling, he loses birds and blame the hatchery, he suffer setbacks and see no way forward.

With vision, a farmer prepares, builds and grows. He invest in knowledge, sets structures that prevent losses and positions himself ahead of challenges.

Vision makes a farmer act differently. He doesn't just throw feed and wait for birds to grow.

He studies how to brood properly, when to switch feed and how to prevent diseases.

With that knowledge, he reduces mortality, improves growth and increases profit.

The truth is that capital is important but without vision, money will vanish fast. With vision, even small resources can multiply into something great.

That's why a farmer with vision will always find a way to succeed.

My formidable team and I supply quality chicks nationwide and follow up to guide so your vision can become a reality. Place your order today and let's help you succeed.

GOOD FEED IS IMPORTANT, BUT BAD LITTER WILL WASTE YOUR FEED AND EFFORT.

How often should I remove poultry litter?

A lady asked me recently "How often should I remove the litter in my poultry pen?

I told her it depends and truly, it does.

Removing litter too early can waste money, and waiting too long can harm your birds. So how do you know the right time?

There are four things you must check

⚡Age of the birds
Small chicks (1 to 14 days old) need very clean and dry litter. Their body is still weak. If the litter is wet and smelling, remove it and replace it. But that doesn't mean you should leave dirty litter. Once the litter is bad, remove it.

⚡Weather condition
During rainy season or cold weather, the litter becomes wet faster, even if rain doesn't enter. Moisture in the air can soak the litter. Wet litter bring smells, disease and discomfort. In the dry season, the litter can last longer but you still have to monitor it.

⚡Number of birds
If you have many birds in a room, they will poo a lot and drink more water, which can wet the litter. The more birds you have, the more often you will remove the litter.

⚡Type of poultry house
An open house with good airflow keeps litter dry. But a closed house gets hot and stuffy making litter spoil fast.

Final Advice
Check your litter always. Once it smell, feels wet and sticky, remove it completely and replace with fresh dry litter.

Take a moment and visualize yourself in that one hectare of papaya plantation with at least 2500 mature trees.

Imagine you have 2000 trees to harvest at least two fruits each. That's 4000 healthy fruits right.

Let's say you sell one at just 250cfa.

Multiple 4000 fruits by 250cfa. That's unbelievable right?

Yeah it's 1.000.000cfa. And you can get this amount at least 3 times a month.

Lets say you spend 500.000cfa for maintenance/labour every month.

You are left with 2.500.000cfa.
So within twelve months you are 30.000.000cfa rich😱😱. Oh yes you are.

Now we know were your worries lies. You don't want to go through the stress of setting up the farm and do the monitoring😢😢.

Worry no more and hand over the land to us and we will handle all the work for you💪.

Yes we will handle everything and monitor even up to one year.

At Agro-CIP Ventures, we change the narratives.

INTRIGUING REVELATIONS ON BROILER DEWORMING IF NEGLECTED CAN CAUSE FARMERS HUGE LOSSES

Worms are small parasites that can live inside your chicken and steal their food.

If you don't remove them early, they will make your broilers grow slowly, eat more feed, look weak and sick.

Deworming helps your chicken stay healthy and reach good weight before selling.

First deworming in broilers should be done between day 14 and day 21 (2 to 3 weeks old)

At this stage, young broilers can start developing worms. Giving them medicine early help stop the worm before they grow big and cause problems.

Levamisole, Piperazine or Albendazole are highly effective at the age.

Second deworming in broilers should be done between day 35 and day 42 (5 to 6 weeks old).

As the chickens grow older, some worms may still be in their bodies. Giving a second treatment help remove any remaining worm.

Fenbendazole or Ivermectin works superbly at this stage.

It is capital to note that dewormed birds grow healthier, gain 12-18% more weight and eat 15 to 20% less feed.

MANAGING YOUNG CHICKS ON DAY 1 LIKE A PRO

💧Pre-heat the brooding area to 32-35°C before chicks arrive.

💧Give warm sugar water mixed with multivitamins (e.g Vitalyte, Aminovit) for the first 6 hours.

💧Do not give antibiotics on day 1---- allow chicks to stabilize and hydrate first.

💧Provide starter feed ( 13-15g per chick) using clean papers or trays.

💧Keep 24 hours light and limit human handling.

N/B Avoid giving any drugs within the first 24 hours as their intestines are fragile and need time to adjust.

OPTIMIZING PIG PRODUCTION

Pig farming is a vital aspect of livestock production contributing significantly to food security and the agricultural economy.

Proper management of pigs, particularly in terms of housing, breeding and caring of piglets play a crucial role in ensuring high productivity and profitability.

This guide explores those fundamental aspects of pig production, highlighting best practices for effective management.

💧PIG HOUSING: Create suitable environment
A well- structured pig house is essential for maintaining pig health, improving productivity and reducing disease incidence.

Good housing should meet the following criteria

⚡Adequate Space: Pigs require sufficient space to move freely, ensuring better growth rates and minimizing stress

The recommended space per pig is 1.5 to 2.5 square meters for growing pigs and 6 to 8 square meters for breeding sow.

⚡ Ventilation and temperature control
Proper airflow is necessary to remove excess moisture and heat, reducing the risk of respiratory diseases. The ideal temperature range for pig is 18-24°C, while piglets require a warmer environment of 32-35°C during the first few days.

⚡Light consideration
Adequate lighting, whether natural or artificial is essential for pigs wellbeing and productivity. A lightening schedule of 16 hours of light per day help improve feeding behaviour and reproductive performance.
