THE SYMBOL OF JUSTICE
Have you ever Noticed This Woman in Court Blindfolded, holding a Scale and a Sword?
You have probably seen this statue in court premises, Law faculties of various universities, or even outside court buildings.
A woman.
Blindfolded.
Holding a scale in her left hand and a sword in her right hand.
But what does she really mean?
That statue is called Lady Justice.
She is the universal symbol of justice all over the world.
Now let me break it down in simple terms
The blindfold means fairness. It tells us that justice does not look at:
π₯’Your tribe
π₯’ Your wealth
π₯’ Your connection
π₯’ Your social status
Justice is not supposed to βseeβ who you are.
It is meant to treat everyone equally.
The scale represents balance and evidence.
Before a judge gives judgment, both sides must be heard. The court weighs:
π₯’ Your story
π₯’ The other partyβs story
π₯’ The evidence presented
Whoeverβs evidence is stronger that side wins.
Justice is not emotional. It is weighed.
The sword represents The sword symbolizes power; the power to enforce judgment, to punish wrongdoing, and to uphold the law. It means once judgment is given, the court has power to enforce it. The sword is sharp because justice must be decisive. It shows that the law is not weak.
So when you see that statue, understand this. It is a reminder that the court stands for fairness, balance, and authority.
Justice should be blind.
Justice should be balanced.
And justice should be firm.
That blindfolded woman is not decoration. She is a message and every time we step into a courtroom, that message is watching us.
