Teneil MacNeil attended Osgoode Hall Law School, having been called to the Bar in 2007. She spent a year practicing family law, subsequent to which she worked as a personal injury lawyer, and then as an insurance defence lawyer, having made partner at a national law firm in 2016. As partner, Teneil focused on personal injury claims, disability claims, property damage claims, commercial general lia

bility matters, and subrogated recovery matters. More recently, Teneil has turned her attention to fertility and adoption law, having herself adopted a child, and having also expanded her family by way of assisted reproduction. Throughout her career, Teneil has acted as trial counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and has otherwise appeared before numerous administrative tribunals including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, the Social Security Tribunal of Canada, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, and the Small Claims Court. Teneil also has experience with the Unified Family Court of Ontario, and is notably a trained mediator.

At Inspire Law, we are proud to support organizations that uplift and empower women and girls in our community. Soroptimist International of Kitchener-Waterloo does exactly that.

Their “Women Who Inspire Me” contest is but one example of how they create space to reflect on courage, leadership, resilience, and the impact women have on shaping the world around them. Initiatives like this matter. They encourage girls to use their voices, to tell meaningful stories, and to recognize the strength found in women’s experiences and relationships.

I am especially proud to congratulate my daughter, Lily MacNeil, on winning the essay category of this contest with her deeply moving piece, The Choice to Love. Her essay reflected on adoption, motherhood, and the power of choosing love and family. The honesty, vulnerability, and bravery in her writing left me inspired.
