Victoria Law Day Back by popular demand! After taking a break, LAW DAY returns to the Victoria Courthouse on SATURDAY, APRIL 18th, 2026, from 10:30am to 2:30pm. What is Law Day?

Directions to the Victoria Courthouse at 850 Burdett Avenue are located here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zc8xAUM Law Day is a local celebration of Law Week, a national event held annually in April celebrating the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Originated by the Canadian Bar Association and first held in Canada in 1983, Law Week provides an excellent opportunity for the profession

to educate the public about the vital role that lawyers and the judiciary serve in guaranteeing an open, independent and unbiased judicial system. Law Week events are made possible through the efforts of hundreds of lawyers who donate thousands of hours of volunteer time across Canada. Law Week events are held in communities throughout British Columbia in April. In British Columbia, Law Week is a collaborative project organized through the partnership of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, the Law Foundation of British Columbia, the Law Society of British Columbia and the Vancouver Bar Association. Here in Victoria, we hold an annual open house at the Courts. Our theme this year is Access to Justice: What does it mean to you? This event is free for all ages of the public and is an opportunity for the public to learn about the law and some of the legal institutions that form the cornerstones of Canadian democracy.
