Addressing delegates at the annual conference of the AJEFO last night. This amazing Association has been advocating within the justice system to advance French and minority language rights for 45 years!

3 generations of Viranis out this weekend to participate in the World Partnership Walk! This annual event is run by the Aga Khan Foundation Canada and raises funds to support the fight against global poverty. Thanks to all who participated, including the Ismaili pipers who got us off to a rousing start!

Celebrating Shalene Curtis – Micallef yesterday. My outstanding former Deputy Minister of Justice received the Law Society Medal from the Law Society of Ontario and deservedly so. Shalene has been a champion of promoting the administration of justice, inclusion and access to justice during her entire public service career, and I relied heavily on her wisdom and partnership during my time as Minister. Her work continues as the new Deputy Minister of Health—keep going Shalene and congratulations!

Congrats to the South Asian Bar Assn for hosting an impressive Gala last night. On top of the many well deserved award recipients (kudos to Sunil Gurmukh, Hina Latif, Neha Chugh, Rustam Juma and Jayashree Goswami!), we also heard an inspiring keynote from South Asian author Uzma Jalaluddin. It was the exact kind of event Torys is proud to sponsor. Great to connect with some old colleagues last night as well!

A pleasure to return today to my alma mater at UT Law, and speak to some impressionable young students in the LAWS program. In its 20th year, Law in Action Within Schools helps open doors and possibilities in the law for diverse young people facing barriers in our community.
