Are you in the Express Entry pool, or planning to join? Here’s what’s changing 👇

✅ New CRS points for high-wage jobs
IRCC is adding a new “Labour Market Integration” factor that rewards Canadian work experience and job offers in high-wage occupations (jobs paying at least 1.3× the national median wage). Examples include engineers and electricians, and there are 186 occupations on IRCC’s list.

💼 Canadian work experience bonus
If you have 12+ months of Canadian work experience in a high-wage occupation, you can get 20, 40 or 70 extra points, depending on the wage level (1.3×, 1.5× or 2×). This is on top of your regular Canadian experience points, so Canadian experience can now be worth up to 150 points.

📄 Job offer points are BACK, with no LMIA needed
A qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation can earn 50, 70 or 100 points, and you no longer need an LMIA for it.

⚠️ Note: You can’t stack both. IRCC will give you whichever route (work experience OR job offer) gives you more points.

⏸️ Draws will pause
IRCC will automatically recalculate everyone’s CRS score. This may take up to 2 weeks, and invitation rounds will be paused during that time.

📝 What you should do NOW (before Nov 3):
🔹 Check your NOC code against IRCC’s high-wage occupation list (link below 👇)
🔹 Make sure your Canadian work experience is entered correctly in your profile
🔹 If you have a job offer, add the details to your profile before Nov 3. IRCC can only award job offer points based on what’s already in your profile!

If you have an in-progress application or made a claim at the border:
👉 Submitted before Nov 2 (11:59 PM ET)? You’re good—no extra steps needed.
👉 Started but not submitted? You'll need to answer new questions and review your answers.
👉 Border claim not linked to portal? You'll need to link your account and re-enter details.

Your address doesn't update automatically with IRCC. If they have the wrong one on file, important mail like your PR card, permits, or letters about your application could end up at your old place, and a missed letter can mean missed deadlines and delays.

Here's what to know:
✅ Update your address online as soon as you move, using IRCC's Change of Address tool or the IRCC web form (depending on your application type)
✅ It can take up to 5 business days for the change to go through, so keep checking your old mail and email in the meantime
✅ New permanent residents: IRCC needs your Canadian address within 180 days of landing to mail your PR card
✅ Changed your email or phone number too? Update those at the same time
✅ CRA, Service Canada and your provincial health card are separate, so updating one doesn't update the others

🚨 IRCC refused this family's visa THREE times — for the same reason. The Federal Court wasn't having it.

An Indian couple applied for a Visitor Visa to see their children studying in Canada. They were refused. They reapplied. Refused again — same boilerplate reasons. A third time — same result.

So they took it to the Federal Court.

In March 2026, the Court sided with the family, ordering IRCC to reconsider the application on an expedited basis. Even more rare: the Court ordered IRCC to pay $1,000 in costs — a sanction almost never seen in immigration cases.

📌 The takeaway: A refusal isn't always the end of the road. If you've been denied on the same grounds more than once, or feel your application wasn't given a fair, genuine review, you may have options — including judicial review.

IRCC has just conducted a brand-new Express Entry round dedicated exclusively to Provincial Nominee Program candidates! Here are the official draw details:

📌 September 28, 2026
• Program: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
• Invitations Issued (ITAs): 733
• Minimum CRS Score: 725
• Tie-Breaking Rule: September 17, 2026, at 01:36:17 UTC

Today's PNP draw brings good news on two simple fronts:
- Lower Score: The score cutoff dropped by 9 points from the last PNP draw (down to 725 from 734). Since a provincial nomination gives you 600 bonus points, candidates only needed a base score of 125 to get invited.
- More Invitations: IRCC handed out 733 invitations—the highest count for a PNP draw in over three months.

What this means for you: Standard Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws are still sitting very high at 519+ points. If your score is below 500, getting a provincial nomination remains your most reliable route to Canada PR.
