Federal Court Victory | Mandamus Granted

We're proud to announce another important win for Crest Attorneys.

In Hazea v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2026 FC 1058 ( https://canlii.ca/t/kmmlg) we successfully obtained a writ of mandamus after our client endured an unreasonable 44-month delay in the processing of a permanent residence application.

The Federal Court found that:

The government had a legal duty to act.
The delay was unreasonable.
The legal requirements for mandamus were satisfied.
IRCC was ordered to render a decision within 60 days.

This case is a reminder that when government delay crosses the line, the courts can require action.

If you're facing prolonged delays with an immigration application, Crest Attorneys can assess whether judicial review or mandamus may be available.
