🚨 ON AN LMIA-BASED WORK PERMIT? YOUR JOB CAN CHANGE — BUT THERE ARE RULES! 🇨🇦

Not every change to your employment means your employer needs a brand-new LMIA.

✅ Minor changes may be allowed, including:
• Small changes to duties that don’t change your NOC
• Certain wage increases within ESDC’s permitted limits
• Wage increases required by law

📢 Some changes must be reported to ESDC, but may NOT require a new LMIA — such as certain changes to your work location within the same economic region.

⚠️ Material changes are different. A new LMIA may be required when there is a significant change, such as:
• Changing your occupation/NOC
• Changing employers
• Decreasing your wage
• Certain significant wage increases
• Changing stipulated hours, benefits or compensation
• Other changes that materially alter the terms of the approved LMIA

Your employer is responsible for ensuring the employment continues to comply with the terms of the positive LMIA.

📌 LMIA-based work permit holders: Don’t assume a promotion, change in duties, wage change or work-location change is automatically okay. A substantial change may also require you to change the conditions of your work permit before starting under the new conditions.

🇨🇦 NEW IRCC UPDATE: Study Without a Study Permit! 📚

Some work permit holders in Canada are now being notified by IRCC that they are eligible to study without obtaining a separate study permit under a new temporary public policy effective September 4, 2026.

If IRCC has identified you as eligible:

✅ You may study at an institution of your choice
✅ Your program or course must be 6 months or less
✅ You do not need to submit an application to benefit from this measure
✅ Your eligibility is based on your current work permit

⚠️ Important: If your program is longer than 6 months, you will still need to apply for a study permit.

Your authorization under this public policy also ends when your current work permit expires or the public policy expires, whichever comes first. Maintaining status after that particular work permit expires does not extend this study authorization.

📩 If you received this IRCC email, keep it for your records.

This could be a great opportunity for eligible workers to upgrade their skills or complete a short-term program while working in Canada.

🚨 WHO ARE YOU TRUSTING WITH YOUR IMMIGRATION FUTURE? 🇨🇦

Immigration decisions can affect your career, your family and your future in Canada. So why would you put your application in the hands of someone who isn’t even licensed to provide immigration advice?

🚨 Important IRCC Update for LMIA-Based Work Permits! 🇨🇦

IRCC has extended the timeframe to provide a positive LMIA from 60 days to 90 days when an eligible LMIA-based work permit application is submitted while the LMIA decision is still pending.

📌 What this means: If you submit your work permit application without the approved LMIA, you may now have up to 90 days to provide the positive LMIA to IRCC.

This extra time can make a significant difference for applicants waiting on an LMIA decision while facing an approaching status or work permit deadline.

⚠️ Eligibility requirements still apply—make sure your application is submitted correctly and the LMIA is provided within the required timeframe.

🇨🇦 BIG CANADA IMMIGRATION UPDATE (2026–2028) 🚨

🔥 Canada is shifting focus — fewer new temporary residents, and more chances for permanent residency (PR)!

📉 Temporary Resident Targets Reduced:
IRCC plans to welcome:
• 385,000 temporary residents in 2026
• 370,000 in 2027 & 2028
➡️ This means fewer new study/work permits being issued.

👷‍♂️ Temporary Foreign Workers:
• 230,000 in 2026
• 220,000 in 2027–2028
➡️ Canada wants to rely less on short-term labour programs and focus on long-term settlement.

📈 PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Expansion:
• PNP target jumps to 91,500 PR spots in 2026 (up from around 55,000!)
➡️ Provinces will get bigger quotas to nominate foreign workers for PR.

🆕 33,000 Temporary Workers → PR Pathway:
IRCC will offer permanent residence to about 33,000 temporary workers already in Canada 🇨🇦
➡️ These will likely be workers with strong ties to the labour market and Canadian work experience.

🎯 Main Goal:
Reduce dependence on temporary programs and help more people settle permanently in Canada.

🚨 Visitor Visa vs. Visitor Record — They’re NOT the Same! 🇨🇦

Many people mix these two up, but they serve very different purposes in Canadian immigration.

✈️ Visitor Visa (TRV)
This is a travel document that allows you to enter or re-enter Canada.
It’s placed in your passport and only controls your ability to travel, not your legal stay in Canada.

🏠 Visitor Record (VR)
This is a status document issued inside Canada.
It shows how long you’re legally allowed to stay in the country and under what conditions.
It is not a visa and cannot be used for re-entry.

⚠️ Very Important:
If you leave Canada while holding a valid Visitor Record, your VR becomes null and void once you exit.
You will need a valid TRV to return — and you’ll receive a new entry document or stamp when you come back.

And remember — if your Visitor Record expires while you’re in Canada, your status also expires, even if your TRV is still valid.
A valid TRV without valid status does not allow you to stay legally in Canada.

✅ Always make sure:
• Your status (Visitor Record) is valid while you’re inside Canada
• Your TRV is valid if you plan to travel and return
