Shuttle & Mobility Support at the Gathering

We’re excited to offer shuttle and mobility support throughout the 2026 Robinson Huron Treaty Gathering in Wasauksing First Nation!

🚌 Driverseat Muskoka & District will provide shuttle service between the designated Gathering parking lot and Gathering site, beginning at 7:00 a.m. each morning. They will also assist attendees who may need transportation between the Gathering site and Gathering Building.

🌿 Golf carts and side-by-sides, supplied by Wasauksing First Nation and Shawanaga First Nation, will provide additional mobility support for our Elders and attendees who may require assistance.

🚦 APS will also be providing traffic support throughout the Gathering to help with safe traffic flow and parking.

📍 Clearly marked pick-up and drop-off locations will be available at both locations.

🚫 Please do not walk between the parking lot and Gathering site. This is a main roadway within Wasauksing and must remain accessible for community traffic and essential services. All attendees must use the shuttle.

🧡 Please be kind and courteous to our transportation and traffic teams! We’re especially excited to welcome the Driverseat team to their first Treaty Gathering and appreciate everyone supporting a safe and accessible Gathering.

ABN – Anishinaabemowin Technicians/Coordinators Gathering
June 23, 2026
The words in our Anishinaabemowin hold so much meaning, strength and empowerment - we must do as much as we can now to ensure we revitalize and preserve it for the future.
These are the sentiments and reminders shared during the Robinson Huron Treaty (RHT) territory Anishinaabemowin Bemiikangik Naaknigewin (ABN) gathering of Anishinaabemowin technicians/coordinators, Elders and language champions/leaders, being held at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation (OCF) in M’Chigeeng First Nation.
Today is day one of a two day gathering aimed at discussing and planning the next steps for the ABN – the RHT Anishinaabemowin revitalization strategy which was officially approved by the Robinson Huron Treaty leadership on April 24th, 2026. RHT leadership also approved $16M for implementation of the strategy for the next three years. These funds come from interest accrued on the Collective Purposes Fund. Leadership also mandated this gathering to take place as a kick-off to the development of the three-year implementation plan.
Participants are prioritizing the Naaknigewin goals and objectives, identifying priorities and a road map for implementation and exploring the establishment of potential partnerships within the territory to help carry the ABN into the future.

Nishin! Engaging Wiikwemkoong youth in Anishinaabemowin.

We were honoured to welcome Loretta Fox-Assinewai, Coordinator of Anishinaabemowin Bemiikangik Naaknigewin with the RHT Robinson-Huron Treaty Litigation Fund, to Wiikwemkoong High School. Loretta and her team visited several high school classes to share important teachings and engage students in meaningful conversations.
Students had the opportunity to share their thoughts and reflections on learning Anishinaabemowin — including the challenges they face, how they learn best, when they feel most confident speaking, and what supports help them use the language in their daily lives.
It was a great day of learning, sharing, and connection. Kina gwoya gii mina wiisini! Gii kchinendamwag! Everyone enjoyed a good meal and left feeling happy and inspired.
