LMIA Update: 90-Day Window
A recent change for employers and temporary foreign workers applying for LMIA.
The period for certain in-Canada work permit applications submitted while an LMIA is still being processed has been extended from 60 days to 90 days.
This gives eligible workers more time to provide the required positive or neutral LMIA after submitting their work permit application.
One important clarification: the 90 days is not the LMIA processing time. It is the additional time available to provide the LMIA once the work permit application has been submitted under the applicable process.
With LMIA processing times continuing to vary by stream, this additional flexibility can be helpful for workers and employers trying to navigate the transition between work permit applications and LMIA decisions.
