Why is there a four-year gap in your education?

The client explained that he had to stop school due to financial constraints.

He eventually finished university, worked as a foreign worker, and saved enough to bring his family to Canada, where he completed his postgraduate studies.

He is one of many like me who worked hard and persevered to build a better life.

And they're a wonderful, honest, and respectful family who are active in their church community.

I’m proud to be part of their journey, and I hope their PR process goes smoothly.🙏

IRCC has a dedicated mailbox where immigration consultants can raise policy or process questions that are NOT tied to a specific case. I learned about it after becoming a consultant.

A client raised a concern about a supposed refusal because their Philippine Police Clearance had no thumbprint, while IRCC's website stated the document "must have a thumbprint".

Since genuine Philippine PCs issued to Filipinos abroad may not include a thumbprint, I raised the issue with the appropriate authorities.

Grateful for the guidance I received. IRCC has since updated the website instructions.

I'm happy to share the opening of this new event venue in Hanwell, a place to celebrate birthdays, weddings, and community gatherings. Blair Event Studio

For Filipinos, community is at the heart of who we are.🇵🇭

As immigrants, these connections help make New Brunswick feel like home.🇨🇦

I'm happy to see a new space where we can continue celebrating, supporting each other, and creating lasting memories together.😊

🇨🇦Canadian citizenship can be revoked if it was obtained, on a balance of probabilities, by
✅misrepresentation
✅fraud
✅or knowingly concealing material circumstances.

A "balance of probabilities" typically means over a 50% likelihood.

Very happy for my clients for being given the chance to take an important step towards permanent residence.🇨🇦

The PNP allows provinces and territories to nominate those who demonstrate:
✅an intent to reside in the province and
✅the potential to help meet local labor market and economic needs

I'm thankful to play a part in helping newcomers make Canada their home while contributing to our province.

Hoping that the rest of the process goes smoothly.🙏

Yesterday, we had the honour to meet the members of the Philippine Embassy, led by His Excellency Jose Victor V. Chan-Gonzaga, Ambassador of the Philippines to Canada, during their Consular Outreach in Fredericton, NB.

It gave community members in the province the chance to connect with Philippine officials, access consular services, and raise questions affecting the community. It was encouraging to see His Excellency and his team genuinely listen, provide guidance, and offer support.

As an immigration professional, I was grateful to engage with officers from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and OWWA and learn more about the valuable services they provide to Filipino migrant workers in Canada.

Maraming salamat po for your dedication to serving and supporting Filipinos across Canada.

Kudos, too, to our Filipino-Canadian community leaders for their tireless efforts in uplifting our community.🇵🇭🇨🇦

This weekend, I marked 18 years in Canadian immigration, both in the public and private sectors.

I joined Canada's immigration department 20 years ago. But in immigration, dates matter.📆

So yes, we have to account for gaps in employment. In my case, this includes the period when I resigned from the Canadian Consulate to settle with my family in Canada, and later when I resigned from IRCC to wait for my license to practice as an RCIC.

Immigrating to Canada is not a smooth journey. Anyone who has gone through the process in full compliance with the law knows that.

Since becoming an RCIC, I have met clients whose profiles aligned well with Canada's immigration needs. Some have strong profiles and simply need guidance towards the right pathway. Unfortunately, it may not work out for some.

Would you rather be promised "guaranteed PR," or get a frank assessment before investing your time, money, and hopes?

A month ago, we received the wonderful news that this family's permanent residence application was ready for finalization.🇨🇦

Today, they officially became Canadian permanent residents!🙏

Their journey was filled with sacrifices and uncertainty, but thanks be to God, their hard work and perseverance have led to this milestone.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been part of their journey, and wish them continued success as they begin this new chapter in Canada.🙏

There have been a number of temporary foreign workers who expressed surprise to learn, on arrival in Canada, that they only had a few months to work despite a longer-term validity on their work permits.

Temporary foreign workers in Canada with a valid employer-specific work permit who are:
• experiencing abuse, or
• are at risk of abuse
may be eligible for an Open Work Permit for Vulnerable Workers.

Abuse may include:
• physical abuse
• sexual abuse
• psychological abuse
• financial abuse
• reprisals

Financial abuse can include:
• fraudulent job offers or
• unethical recruitment practices

If you believe you MAY have been a victim of fraud or abuse, you can report it to an enforcement agency (anonymously to CBSA), or seek assistance from a settlement organization or an authorized paid representative.

When you ask parents why they immigrated to Canada, many will say: “For my kids.”

20 years ago yesterday, I joined Citizenship and Immigration Canada at the Canadian Mission in Dubai. Then, I had the chance to immigrate to Canada. But I chose to stay.

Canada is highly respected, and so are those who work for the Canadian government. There are also perks to living and earning a good salary in a dynamic, tax-free country like the UAE.

When you become a parent,
however, your perspective changes. You begin thinking about your children's future.

So when the opportunity arose, I chose to bring my family to Canada, where my children could benefit from a globally-recognized education, and easier access to opportunities and travel around the world.

It was one of the most important decisions I made.
