Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening everyone.
It is with great sadness that I share the news of a loss within the Self Advocate of the Rockies group society. Jonathan Righton passed away on July 29, 2026.
Jonathan was our Secretary and CEO, helping with the business side of the Self Advocate of the Rockies group society. He was a big part of SAOR and worked hard because he truly believed we could go far.
He was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to all of us. Jonathan had a gift for capturing the moments that mattered. Whether it was a fundraiser, a community event, or something SAOR was putting on, he was often there with his camera, helping tell our story through his lens.
At our Tuesday general meetings from 10 to 11, Jonathan always brought important conversations forward. He cared deeply about issues affecting self advocates, including the Canada Disability Benefit and other matters that impact all of us.
Jonathan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. We are grateful for his leadership, his friendship, and everything he gave to SAOR.
