I will see this shelf in my office every day. It is behind where clients sit. It solved the problem of hiding the plumbing from a sink that used to be there, but it is much more than that.
The shelf itself was purchased from a friend. The plant that sits on top was a gift from my mother. The books are ones I use often in my practice or some that I have had since law school. The special book on the top left shelf is the Work Vacay, from my late friend Karine Parthenais. The silver plated bowl on the second from the bottom left shelf was purchased at the estate sale for my late friend John Earle. It still has the Earl's Vintage tag with his handwriting on it. The marble bookends remind me of the ones that were on the bookshelf in my childhood home for most of my life. The striped trinket box is a nod to my trip to Morocco. Everything on this shelf was placed there with intention.
A lawyer's office can and should have some personality and mine is especially evident in this shelf.
