Amnesty International Quinte
FREE International Women’s Day event, “We Are One.” 🌍💜

Event: We Are One
📅 Sunday, March 8
⏰ 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
📍 Market Square (behind Belleville City Hall)

Join the community for a peaceful, family-friendly gathering in solidarity with women and girls around the world.

This year’s theme, “Standing in Her Shoes: Women in a World of Turmoil,” highlights the realities women face globally — from femicide in Venezuela, barriers to healthcare in Yemen, and food insecurity in Gaza and Ukraine, to the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls here in Canada.

The gathering will begin with a brief welcome, followed by a silent solidarity walk. The event is free, wheelchair accessible, and open to all ages and genders.

Are your energy bills high because of baseboard heaters? You may be eligible for a free heat pump installed in your home through the Energy Affordability Program, even if you are renting. A heat pump costs much less to run than baseboard heaters, and it cools your home as well.

On Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Toronto Home Energy Network (a charity focused on heat pumps), is hosting a webinar given by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) on their Energy Affordability Program.

With the EAP, income-eligible Ontarians can get a free heat pump if they have baseboard heaters or an oil furnace. This free upgrade would mean lower cost winter heating AND efficient cooling in the summer (a heat pump is a heater and cooler in one, and they're cheaper to run than conventional A/Cs)

Income-eligible people in Ontario can save up to 50% on their heating bills by swapping their old baseboard heaters or oil furnaces for a modern heat pump (for free!!) with IESO’s Energy Affordability Program. Register to learn more about eligibility and the application process.

Annual Quinte Coordinating Committee Against Violence Education Day is Friday, March 27th, 2026 at The Grand in Belleville

Join us for the annual Quinte Coordinating Committee Against Violence Education Day on Friday, March 27th, 2026 at The Grand in Belleville.

This year’s Education Event focuses on sexual assault trials in Ontario, examining how these cases unfold within the legal system and their broader impact on survivors and communities.

We are honoured to welcome an exceptional panel of guest speakers: Jessie Rodger, Executive Director of Anova in London; Jessica Baker, co-founder of Beyond The Verdict; and Kerri-Ann Kennedy, Crown Attorney with the Sexual Violence Advisory Group. Together, they will offer legal, survivor-centred, and systemic perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of sexual assault trials and the realities faced by survivors navigating them.

The day will end with a panel of local Executive Directors from Three Oaks Foundation, Alternatives for Women, Victim Services HPELA, and Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District.

Tickets are open to the public, and all proceeds go to the Quinte District Victims Fund.

Tickets are available at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/qccav-education-day-sexual-assault-trials-in-ontario-tickets-1982193339638?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
