New Immigration Update for We Migrate & GLP
Canada just released its Immigration Levels Plan 2025β2027. Even though the 2025 immigration targets for permanent residents have dropped to 395,000, there is still hope for people who want to live and work in Canada in the years to come.
For individuals who are already residing and working in Canada, the Immigration Levels Plan actually has some positive news because Express Entry immigration would not decline substantially. Changes in the numbers from the Provincial Nominee Program do raise questions about whether the federal government is trying to "take back" immigration, though.
Important Notes:
1 The Immigration Levels Planning predicts that there won't be a major decline in Express Entry immigration between 2024 and 2025.
2 Candidates with Canadian Experience Class are the main focus of a new In-Canada subcategory.
3 Some important professions will no longer be included in category-based drawings.
4 The targets allotted for permanent residents in the Provincial Nominee Program category have significantly decreased.
5 367,750 temporary workers and 305,900 students are projected to be temporary residents in 2025, according to the new temporary resident plan. These figures are significantly lower than in 2023, with IMP employees and students being the most affected.
In 2025 and 2026, the population is expected to fall by .2% as a result of these immigration levels.
