What is Pre Departure Course?

To Apply for Malta work permit you have to give the pre departure Exam. From 6th January 2026 it is mandatory for every foreign employee who are seeking jobs in Malta.

• You have to register in Skill pass Malta and register with 245 Euro.
• There is Three Steps on the exam. You can take all the exams separately. There are sample exam and video for you to watch before you take the exams.
• Exam 1 : Living and Intergrating in Malta. The course provides an overview of daily life, employment and services to support integration in Malta.
• Exam 2 : Rights and Obligations at the Work Place. The Course provides an overview of rights, obligations, and legal requirements related to employment and residency in Malta.
• Exam 3: English Speaking Assessment. An automated speaking assessment that determines English proficiency for living and working in Malta.

You can take the above exam from home or any where you like and any time. This part call Phase 1.
After you complete you will get a date to take the Phase 2 exam in the VFS . Please be advised that you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY anything for phase 2 exam.
You will receive a Certificate online in your email from Skill pass that you pass the exam. If you fail the phase 2, you have to pay 100 Euro to retake the exam.

Step 1. Passport and age between 20-48.
Step 2. Make your Euro pass CV.
Step 3. Must know how to Communicate in English Fluently.
Step 4. What sector you like to work where you have at least experience.
Step 5. Take the Pre-departure Exam which is known as Skill Pass.
Step 6. Apply through recruitment agent for Job.
Step 7. In Malta all Employer want the employees to apply through Recruitment Agency.
