পুলিশের ইউনিফর্ম পরিবর্তনের উদ্যোগ বন্ধ করতে আইনি নোটিশ পাঠানো হয়েছে। ইউনিফর্ম পরিবর্তন সংক্রান্ত সব প্রশাসনিক কার্যক্রম স্থগিত রাখার অনুরোধ জানিয়ে বৃহস্পতিবার (২৩ এপ্রিল) সরকারের সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিদের এই আইনি নোটিশ পাঠিয়েছেন সুপ্রিম কোর্টের চার আইনজীবী।

নোটিশ প্রদানকারী অন্যতম আইনজীবী মো. শাহিনুজ্জামান বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি ছাড়া নোটিশদাতা অন্য আইনজীবীরা হলেন ড. সৈয়দা নাসরিন, জান্নাতুল ইসলাম পিয়া ও সালমা কুলসুম।

বগুড়া-৫: গোলাম মোহাম্মদ সিরাজ
বগুড়ার ধুনট ও শেরপুর উপজেলা নিয়ে গঠিত বগুড়া-৫ আসন। এ আসন থেকে বিজয়ী হয়েছেন বিএনপির গোলাম মোহাম্মদ সিরাজ। হলফনামায় তিনি নিজের নামে মাত্র ২৭ লাখ টাকা এবং স্ত্রী শাহনাজ সিরাজের নামে ৪ লাখ টাকা ঋণের কথা উল্লেখ করেন বলে অভিযোগ ছিল। তবে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের কেন্দ্রীয় তথ্য অনুযায়ী, তাঁর সংশ্লিষ্ট তিনটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের নামে রয়েছে প্রায় ১০৯ কোটি টাকার ঋণ।

এর মধ্যে ক্যাব এক্সপ্রেস বিডির নামে ২৬ কোটি টাকা, ওয়ানটেল কমিউনিকেশনের নামে ৪৮ কোটি টাকা এবং এসআর হাইওয়ে সার্ভিসেসের নামে প্রায় ৩৫ কোটি টাকা ঋণ রয়েছে। গোলাম মোহাম্মদ সিরাজ এসব প্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্যে দুটির চেয়ারম্যান এবং একটির পরিচালক।

শাহনাজ সিরাজের মালিকানাধীন এসআর কেমিক্যাল ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজের নামে বিভিন্ন ব্যাংকে প্রায় ৫১২ কোটি টাকার খেলাপি ঋণ রয়েছে বলে নির্বাচনের আগে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের এক পর্যালোচনায় উঠে এসেছিল। একই প্রতিষ্ঠানের বিদ্যুৎ বিলও বকেয়া রয়েছে প্রায় ৪১ কোটি ৪২ লাখ টাকা। এসব বিষয়ে খেলাপি ঋণসংক্রান্ত চারটি মামলা রয়েছে। এর মধ্যে একটির স্থগিতাদেশের মেয়াদ শেষ হয় গত ২৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি, আরেকটির শেষ হয় ১৬ মার্চ। অপর দুটি মামলা নিষ্পত্তি না হওয়া পর্যন্ত স্থগিতাদেশ বহাল থাকবে।

যোগাযোগ করলে গোলাম মোহাম্মদ সিরাজ তাঁর আইনজীবী সৈয়দা নাসরিনের সঙ্গে কথা বলার পরামর্শ দেন। সৈয়দা নাসরিন গতকাল শনিবার প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, ‘গোলাম মোহাম্মদ সিরাজের ঋণ নিয়মিত ছিল। সিআইবি হালনাগাদ হতে সময় লাগছিল বলে আমরা ঝুঁকি নিতে চাইনি। এ কারণেই আদালত থেকে স্থগিতাদেশ নেওয়া।’

কিছু টাকা শোধ ও আদালতের স্থগিতাদেশ নিয়ে সংসদ সদস্য হয়েছেন ৯ জন। আরও ২ জন অপেক্ষায়।

Dr. Syeda Nasrin, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, along with Advocate Md. Shahinuzzaman, served a legal notice challenging a directive issued by Mr. Mohammad Shahjahan, PPM (Bar), PhD, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Rajshahi Range which instructed that certain individuals be immediately shown arrested in other cases (commonly referred to as “shown arrest”) based on an assessment of their alleged capacity to reorganise or engage in activities of a prohibited organisation upon being released on bail.

Upon receipt of the said notice the DIG took advice from his legal counsel and promptly recalled the impugned order as is evident from their reply dated 25.03.2026.

We appreciate that the concerned officer has demonstrated the courage to rectify his mistake. We further commend his willingness to acknowledge the issue and take corrective action through an act of admission. Such conduct reflects a sense of institutional responsibility and accountability.

This development is a positive sign for the establishment of the rule of law in our country. It reinforces the principle that all public authorities remain subject to law and are duty-bound to revisit and withdraw unlawful directions when brought to their attention.

We firmly believe that the police must act not as violators of human rights, but as custodians and protectors of those rights. This incident sets an encouraging precedent that adherence to legality and respect for fundamental rights must guide all law enforcement actions. Hence, we hereby withdraw our legal notice dated 16.03.2026.

Moreover, as a law firm we remain committed in upholding human rights and the rule of law wherever and whenever necessary.
