According to the two proposed ordinances, penalty and interest can be exempted in the case of failure to submit the VAT return and pay income tax within the stipulated time during a crisis like coronavirus, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam at a press briefing.

Besides, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) also can extend the timeframe for submission of the VAT return and payment of taxes.

The two proposed laws are ‘Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Bill 2020’ and ‘Income-Tax (Amendment) Ordinance 2020’

FBCCI সহ দেশের বিভিন্ন চেম্বার ও এসোসিয়েশানের বিশেষ অনুরোধে ১৩ ডিজিটের Vat Registration এর সময়সীমা ৩০ নভেম্বর পর্যন্ত বাড়ানো হয়েছে.......সুতরাং যারা এখনও Vat Registration করেন নি তাদেরকে নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যে Registration সম্পন্ন করার জন্যে অনুরোধ করছি...... Be noted that The revenue authority has also requested Bangladesh Bank not to allow any bank to open letters of credit (LC) for imports without the 13-digit e-BINs from December onward........
