Luana Torres is a Solicitor & Notary Public and is the founder of Torres Lawyers in Sydney. Luana graduated from Macquarie University in Sydney with degrees in Law and Commerce in 2002 and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales later that year. Luana has extensive experience advising and assisting clients in different areas of law including; criminal & traffic

; civil litigation; commercial; property; divorce applications and wills & estates. She acts for individuals, small/medium businesses, and consulates, and appears in the Local, District and Supreme Courts of NSW and other states, as well as in a number of tribunals. Luana is the first female Brazilian to be admitted to legal practice in Australia. Being Brazilian-born, she is fluent in Portuguese, and is also proficient in Spanish. Luana is an Adjunct Lecturer at the College of Law in Sydney, and is also a Commonwealth-registered Civil Marriage Celebrant. July… I’m convinced it had 150 days.

Long days. Tough cases. Difficult conversations. Prison visits. Countless hours of preparation. Thankfully, there were some incredible results, wonderful students and a gorgeous wedding to keep me balanced. 🤍

Today, as I walked out of a maximum security prison after a long conference with a client, I stopped for a moment and took it all in.

Some months test your resilience more than others. But they also remind you why you do what you do.

It’s been a marathon, but one worth running. On to August. ✨

This week I visited a client who after serving a sentence of almost three years for a drug-related offence, is being released on parole.

As he was on a temporary visa, his release also means deportation back to his home country.

This was a complex and challenging case, but seeing him leave custody as a changed man, ready to rebuild his life and reunite with his loved ones, is incredibly rewarding.

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do. Wishing him all the best for this next chapter.

Back in court today for a sentence hearing and so grateful with the result.

My client was facing two criminal charges following a car accident that brought significant stress into his life.

Today, almost 12 months later, both charges were dismissed, with no convictions recorded.

Celebrated with an almond latte in the sun. ⚖️🙏🏼
