Parallel parenting can help you co-parent with a narcissistic ex. It involves disengaging from the other parent in order to avoid conflict through controlled communication. It also means controlling your own reactions and emotions while focusing your attention on what is best for your child.

I am constantly threatened, harassed and gas-lighted by my narcissistic ex. Every interaction with him causes panic and anxiety.

Until recently, we haven't researched how big of an impact dads have on their kids' lives. But emerging research on fatherhood has shown that when dads are actively involved, their kids experience lifelong benefits.

When fathers are engaged and nurturing, children are:

✅ Less likely to drop out of school
✅ More likely to avoid high-risk-taking behaviors
✅ More likely to have healthy relationships
✅ Less likely to struggle with psychological challenges
✅ More likely to feel emotionally secure

It's important for children to form strong bonds with all parents. Keep showing up dads! You do matter–a lot!

Many new dads might be unsure about their role. They might want to nurture but feel constrained by gender norms or the examples modeled in their own lives.
