Bien que je me retire progressivement de la prise en charge de clients en droit pénal, Je continue à accepter des clients français qui se trouvent dans une situation délicate avec la loi en Australie. et qui nécessitent mes services dans cette juridiction.
C’est toujours une expérience gratifiante d’offrir des conseils juridiques et un soutien à ces clients français.

Aujourd’hui, au tribunal de première instance de Southport, ce fut un plaisir que mon client français n’ait aucune condamnation enregistrée pour deux infractions criminelles.
Ses projets d’apprendre un métier en Australie pourront se poursuivre, afin qu’il puisse réaliser son rêve de travailler dans ce métier ici en Australie une fois qualifié.

Le fait de n’avoir aucune condamnation enregistrée, même s’il a plaidé coupable aux accusations portées contre lui, signifie que cela ne déclenche pas le ‘test de caractère’ en vertu de l’article 501 de la Migration Act.

Être présent pour ces clients loin de chez eux, afin de communiquer en français avec eux et leurs familles, (qui sont compréhensiblement stressées pour leur enfant à 20 000 km en Australie), est la service personnalisé unique que Campion Legal offre.

On next week’s episode on the Broken Fathers Podcast, I sit down with Jean Remi Campion (J-R), a 62-year-old lawyer and owner of Campion Legal. JR specialises in family, criminal, and domestic violence law.

JR’s family emigrated to Australia in 1964 and he grew up in Western Australia. In the late 70s, JR’s family moved to Europe he and decided to join the French Legionnaire in the early 80s. JR finished at the top of his legionnaire training, joining the Second Parachute Regiment and serving until 1988. Soon after the military, JR joined the French Foreign Affairs Office.

In 2006, JR moved back to Western Australia and started his own coaching business before joining the Northern Territory Fire & Rescue service (NTFRS). In the latter part of his time in the NTFRS due to available time working a 4/4 off roster he took the opportunity to study for his law degree. After completing his degree, he moved to Queensland.
What drives JR is his passion for standing up for the underdog; a lot of people can’t afford legal representation and has empathy for those people, which is why he offers affordable fees and an individualised service.

In this episode, we waste no time discussing the current domestic violence climate. JR gives excellent advice on what to do if you are served with or have a Domestic Violence Order (DVO) against you, emphasising that cutting all communication is the first step. We also address Police Protection Notices (PPNs) and how the Queensland Police Service (QPS) issues DVOs to meet their quota system. We touch on the plate recognition technology QPS uses, how to interact with QPS, and the futility of arguing with officers. A disturbing topic passionate to both me and JR is how the court system has little understanding of veterans, where often their militaty service is used against them. Many veterans are being stood down, losing opportunities for promotions and deployments due to fabricated DVOs being served on them.
