📣Migration Tasmania Update📣

🔹Migration Tasmania provides regular updates of nomination places used and available, as well as unfinalised nomination applications on hand and invitations to apply for nomination issued.

🔹Tasmania has now received its final allocation of skilled visa nomination places for the 2022-23 program year. This includes an additional allocation of 900 subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional places.

🔹Tasmania’s final allocation comprises of:
Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa: 2000 places
Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa: 2250 places

Eligible international graduates will be able to work in Australia for an additional two years post-study from 1 July 2023.

The extension applies to key industries including:

⚙️ Engineering
🚜 Agricultural fields

🌟Big news of Work Hours Cap

From 1 July 2023, international higher education graduates with eligible qualifications will be granted an extra two years of post-study work rights. The allowable work hours cap for international students will be increased from 40 hours to 48 hours per fortnight.

🔷Skill assessment obtained within 60 days after invitation will be accepted for Point tested visas-189/190/491.

🔷If your skill assessment was expired on the day of invitation and you obtain a positive assessment in the 60 days after invitation, you can still lodge the visa.

Working holidaymakers employed in critical sectors who have not completed the 3 or 6 months of specified work required to apply for a second or third Working Holiday Maker visa, and are unable to leave Australia, may be eligible for a Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This visa will allow working holidaymakers to remain lawfully in Australia, and continue working if they wish to do so until they can return to their home country. TSS 482 visa /457 visa holders who have lost their jobs may also be eligible to apply for the 408 visa (COVID-19 stream).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Professional Year officially now 4 years from date of completion

This is the new policy advice from Home Affairs as of this morning on how they will interpret the validity period of a Professional year program

The Department has recently adopted a more beneficial approach to Professional Year, where as long as the Professional Year program was completed, meaning finished, within the 48 month period prior to the Time of Invitation, the applicant may be awarded 5 points.

To avoid any doubt, the applicant could have commenced the Professional Year at a time before the 48 months prior to invitation. The time the applicant “completed” a Professional Year is the date listed on an official Record of Completion which is issued by the authorized body or Professional Year program delivery partner to the applicant.
