Estate planning is about far more than just writing a Will. In this conversation with Peter Leggett on Generations, we explore how proper planning can help protect your intentions, reduce family conflict, and create clarity for future generations.

We discuss some of the most common issues families face - from succession planning and superannuation to trusts, undocumented loans, and intergenerational wealth transfer - and why leaving these conversations too late can lead to unnecessary disputes and unintended outcomes.

One of the key messages from the episode is simple: start the conversation early and get the right advice before problems arise.

If you want to better understand how to protect your family, your assets, and your legacy, we encourage you to watch the episode.

Peter Leggett and Mark Murnane discuss estate planning, wills, trusts, superannuation and family succession to help families protect wealth and reduce conflict.

“Estate planning isn’t just about writing a Will, it’s about protecting your intentions, your family, and your legacy.”

In this episode of Generations, Mark Murnane joins Peter Leggett from Arrow Private Wealth to unpack why families need to start these conversations earlier - before conflict, confusion, or costly mistakes arise.

From testamentary trusts and superannuation to business succession and undocumented family loans, this conversation is packed with practical insights every family should hear.

The message is simple: don’t leave it too late.

Great to be invited onto ABC Radio to discuss capital gains tax and inherited property; an issue that often catches families off guard.

I spoke with ‘Nightlife’ host, Christine Layton, and received a variety of questions from listeners across Australia

When a loved one passes, dealing with their home isn’t just emotional, it can have significant legal and financial implications, especially if there’s no Will in place.

I’ve written a short blog explaining what happens to your home if you die without a Will, and how to avoid unnecessary complications for your family.

THANK YOU.🙏

In 2023, Murnane Legal started in a small nook of our home. Just a desk, a lot of determination, and zero budget for marketing.

So we got to work the only way we could: showing up.
We networked, had conversations, and started creating simple videos answering frequently asked questions about Wills and Estate planning; the things people actually want to understand but don’t always feel comfortable asking.

No fancy strategy. Just consistency and a genuine focus on helping people.

Fast forward to now, we’re operating out of our office on Bay Street in Port Melbourne.

This weekend we were reminded of how far we’ve come. In a local Facebook group, someone asked for recommendations for a Wills and Estates lawyer… and Murnane Legal was overwhelmingly the most recommended name.

No ads. No gimmicks. Just trust, built over time.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us, referred us, and trusted us with such important matters. It means everything.

A good reminder that if you focus on helping people and show up consistently, the rest tends to follow.
Don’t be afraid to ask. No estate planning matter is too big or too small. Every situation, every family, and every question matters.

A recent Finder.com.au survey has revealed that 52% or 9.9 million Australians do not have a Will. Victoria has the highest percentage, with 54% of Victorians not having a Will. The most common reason given in the survey of why people do not have a Will is because “they just have not got around to it”.

If you’re one of those people without a Will, you might be wondering – what happens to your assets if you die?

When someone dies without a Will in Victoria, they are legally referred to as ‘dying intestate’. https://www.murnanelegal.com.au/blog/what-happens-if-i-die-without-a-will

If you wish to leave a portion of your estate to a charity or non-profit organisation, a Will allows you to do so, supporting causes that are important to you.

Yesterday, Mark joined Plan International Australia for a special webinar, designed to help understand the essentials of writing or updating your Will.
