Australian designer Jessica Johansen has taken to social media after spotting Kylie Jenner's new clothing brand, Khy, which she believes looks almost identical to her own high-end fashion label, Johansen. After receiving numerous messages congratulating her on the collaboration, Johansen realised the striking similarities between the designs. She contacted Jenner's team for an explanation but was dismissed and told the design was developed from their own 'innovation'. This will be an interesting case to follow. Designers and business owners must protect their intellectual property rights and goodwill. A Florida judge has dismissed Samantha Markle's defamation suit against her half-sister, Meghan Markle. The judge stated that there was no evidence to support Samantha's claims of disparaging, hurtful and false remarks made by Meghan. This is the third attempt by Samantha to bring a defamation claim against the Duchess of Sussex, and it has been dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought back to court.

Samantha had alleged that comments made by Meghan during her 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview caused her humiliation, shame and hatred on a worldwide scale. However, the judge determined that the statements provided as evidence had numerous issues and were either protected as opinion or were substantially true.

Google Australia's Managing Director, Melanie Silva, has revealed that negotiations are currently underway for new media deals. This comes after reports of Apple initiating talks with major news and publishing organizations last year, and The New York Times taking a more aggressive approach by suing OpenAI and Microsoft for using their content to train AI models.

In a discussion at The Australian Financial Review Business Summit, technology, media, and telecommunications expert Gavin Smith from law firm Allens predicts that tech companies will eventually be forced to compensate content creators for the use of their materials in training AI models. He believes this is necessary to avoid negative impacts on creative industries.

Accenture's Chief AI Officer Lan Guan also weighed in on the rise of AI in business, citing ChatGPT's launch in late 2022 as a major turning point. She shared that Accenture has already implemented an internal sales response tool based on Google's Gemini model, which has helped reduce costs for clients by millions of dollars each year.

Guan also highlighted the increasing accessibility of AI technology for non-tech experts, with many companies now experimenting with its use. The elusive artist known as Banksy may finally be forced to reveal his true identity in a legal battle over the authenticity of one of his prints. Two art collectors are taking action against Banksy's company, Pest Control, for refusing to confirm the legitimacy of Monkey Queen, a print depicting the late Queen Elizabeth as a bejeweled primate.

The collectors, Nicky Katz and Ray Howse, have been trying for three years to get an answer from Pest Control but have now resorted to legal action for breach of contract. They point to Pest Control's own website, which states that they provide certificates of authenticity for all types of artwork. This certificate is crucial in establishing the legitimacy and value of an artwork in the market.

Banksy's real identity has long been a subject of speculation and intrigue, with various individuals being suspected as the elusive artist. However, no one has been able to definitively link anyone to Banksy, as it would ruin his mystique and potentially decrease the value of his work.

Katz and Howse acquired Monkey Queen from an established Banksy collector's estate for £30,000 in 2020. However, they were surprised to find no accompanying paperwork detailing its collecting history. Despite sending the print to Pest Control for verification, they have received no response on whether it is indeed an authentic Banksy print from a limited edition of 150.

Katz expresses frustration at Pest Control's delay in providing a verdict: We're in no man's land, and it's a lot of money. He calls on Pest Control to fulfill their role as official validators by confirming whether Monkey Queen is genuine or not. This would allow them to take appropriate action if it turns out to be fake.

The ongoing legal dispute may finally lead to Banksy revealing his true identity if he is required to testify in court. Until then, his anonymity remains intact and adds further intrigue and value to his elusive and highly sought-after artwork.
