We’ve good news for residents in Wongawilli and surrounds – West Dapto Road will reopen to traffic before Christmas 2026.

While construction has continued either side of the culvert site since the discovery of the microbats – which means more than 86 per cent of works required to reopen the road have been completed – the wrapping up of the microbat exclusion process means works around the impacted stormwater culvert can continue.

Renting in NSW has changed. Here’s what you need to know about the newly introduced reforms ending no-grounds evictions:

A landlord can now only end a lease with a specific, lawful reason. Landlords can’t end a tenancy without a valid cause.

For most reasons, you must be given supporting documents that show why the lease is ending.

Some notice periods have been extended to give renters more time to find a new home.

If a lease is ended for a specific reason (like renovations), the property cannot be put back on the rental market immediately.

Stronger penalties apply if a lease is ended unlawfully, or if a property is put back on the market when an exclusion period applies.

From 1 July 2026, new anti money laundering and counter terrorism laws come into effect for Property Professionals which means we will need to carry out additional identity checks and ask you more questions during your property transactions.

Questions such as:
🏡 How are financing your purchase?,
🤷‍♀️ Where did the funds in your bank account come from?, and 💰can you provide pay slips and/or bank accounts to prove where the funds came from?,
will be required.

So, although we are as thrilled about having to ask these questions as you will be having to answer them, our Federal Government has imposed these new laws upon us and non-compliance will result in significant penalties, so we don’t have a choice.
