Proud to be named Australian Institute of Conveyancers (AIC Vic) Emerging Leader 2026 🏆

It’s funny how life can change when someone else decides your chapter with them is finished.

Four years ago, after many years working in the legal industry, I was made redundant from my position at a mid-tier law firm.

At the time, I could have allowed that decision to define what came next.

Instead, I went back to studying. I invested in myself. I stepped well outside my comfort zone, backed myself and started AFG Conveyancing.

I certainly didn't have all the answers. But I believed I could build something of my own and I was prepared to work for it.

Four years later, I am incredibly proud to have received the Emerging Leader Award from the Australian Institute of Conveyancers Victoria.

What makes this recognition particularly special is that I was nominated by someone within the industry and the award was voted on by my peers.

To the person who nominated me, you know who you are.

Thank you!

You didn't seek any recognition for putting my name forward, but please know how much it means to me that you thought I was worthy of it.

Sometimes one person's quiet belief in you can mean more than they will ever realise.

To AIC Vic, thank you for this recognition and for continuing to support, represent and celebrate our profession.

A special thank you also to SERV for sponsoring the Emerging Leader Award and for supporting recognition within our industry.

Congratulations to all the other award winners, and to every person who was nominated. To be recognised by the people who work alongside us and understand what we do every day is something worth celebrating in itself.

And to everyone who has supported me and AFG Conveyancing over the past four years, my family, friends, colleagues, referral partners and, most importantly, my clients who have trusted me with some of the biggest transactions of their lives, thank you! AFG Conveyancing would not be what it is today without you.

There is something quite satisfying about looking back at where this journey started.

Being made redundant felt like a door being closed on me. As it turns out, it was probably the door I needed closed.

Because when someone else no longer sees your value, you have a choice.

You can allow their decision to determine your worth or you can back yourself.

I'm very glad I chose the latter.

Four years later, I have built a business I am incredibly proud of, created a career on my own terms, and now have an award voted on by my industry peers to remind me just how far I've come.

If the last four years have taught me anything, it is this:

Other people don't get to decide what you're capable of.

Sometimes the door that closes behind you is the very thing that gives you the courage to open your own. ❤️

✨ Well… this was a lovely surprise! ✨

I am incredibly honoured to have been nominated for the Emerging Leader Award at the 2026 AIC VIC Outstanding Conveyancer Awards. 🏆

After more than 25 years in the legal and conveyancing industry, and taking the leap to run AFG Conveyancing, being recognised alongside some incredible people in our industry is something I am genuinely proud of.

Anyone who knows me knows I don't do what I do for awards. I do it because I genuinely care about my clients and I believe experience, communication and a little bit of common sense can make a huge difference during what can be a very stressful time.

A huge congratulations to my fellow nominees. I am honoured to be nominated alongside you.

Now to find something to wear to the Gala… which may be more stressful than settlement day. 😂🥂

🏡 What does a Conveyancer actually do?

It's a question I'm asked all the time.

Most people think conveyancing is simply preparing paperwork and attending settlement.

The reality is... that's only a small part of the story.

Behind every successful property transaction are hidden risks, complex negotiations, legal problem-solving and a team of professionals all working towards the same goal.

At my upcoming BNI Amplify Sunbury 10-minute presentation, I'll be sharing:

✅ What conveyancing really involves.

✅ The hidden risks most buyers never see.

✅ A real-life client story where experience made all the difference.

✅ The perfect referral for a conveyancer.

If you've ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of buying or selling property, or you'd simply like to learn more about what I do, I would love for you to join me

To the mums, step-mums, grandmothers, mother figures and the women who somehow hold everything together… Happy Mother’s Day 💐

Today is about celebrating the love, strength, patience and sacrifices that so often happen quietly behind the scenes.

To the mums juggling work, family, school runs, endless phone calls and never-ending to-do lists, thank you.

To the mums who always put everyone else first, today, we celebrate you.

And for those who may find today difficult, whether it’s because someone is missing, memories feel heavy, or motherhood looks different than expected, thinking of you too.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with love, laughter, coffee… and hopefully someone else doing the dishes for once. ❤️

Today, on Anzac Day, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served and those who continue to serve.

Their legacy reminds us of the strength found in unity, mateship, and standing up for something greater than ourselves.

Grateful for their service. 🌺
