Whyyyyy is there so much paperwork? 💬

Don't worry, we agree! Every year it feels like some new regulation or process requires us to get our buyers and sellers to sign yet another document 🫠

This month, we're shining a spotlight on the suburb of Busselton itself. Our hometown, city centre and hub! 🏡

Busselton's median sale price is $665,000, up 9.2% over the past 12 months. The median rent is $650/week, up 3.2% this year.

According to Wikipedia, Busselton's claim to fame is the Busselton Jetty - it's the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere!

Did you know that if one or more of the buyers of a property is not an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, there is extra stamp duty that needs to be paid? 🏠💸

It's called the Foreign Buyer Duty, and it's been around since 2019, but we're still seeing a bit of confusion pop up from time to time when one buyer is an Aus Citizen and one is not.

👉 Put simply: Foreign Buyer Duty applies to the non-resident's share.

🧑🏡🧔 Let's use the example of Mary & Tom buying a home for $760,000. They're buying 50/50, and Mary is an Aus Citizen, but Tom is not.

The FBD is $26,600, calculated by 7% of Tom's 50% share ($380,000).

Understanding all of the costs associated with buying a property, including the Foreign Buyer Duty, is vital to being empowered in your property transaction 💪
