Our Local Legend this quarter is Daniel Butler or Danny B as he is affectionately known in the community. Many would recognise Danny as the local Australia Post delivery driver for Mount Gravatt East for the last 3 years.

Danny is just a nice young guy going above and beyond what is required of him in his daily job. Many have taken the time to publicly thank Danny for going the extra mile by bringing parcels right up to their door to make life easier for members of our community who are pregnant, or elderley, or have mobility issues.

He also takes the time to have a conversation with a friendly smile and even plays with some of the local dogs to keep them entertained. So Danny, thanks for taking the time to do those extra things that make our community that little bit better each day!

Our Local Legend this quarter is Ratu Maseinawa who in addition to serving the community in his day job as a School Maths Teacher for the last 28 years, has also contribued a truly staggering amount in other ways.

For the last 17 years Ratu has (and continues to), volunteer his time as a Rugby Coach, from juniors 6 to 18, right through to seniors both Mens and Womens. To name just some of the organisations; Springfield Lakes Hawks, Sunnybank Dragons, Met West Schools, Brisbane Junior Rugby, QLD Rugby, QLD Fiji, and Ipswich Grammar. What a massive community contribution!

In additon to coaching, he’s also been volunteering on the QLD Fijian Association, firstly as a committee member, and now President, and Ratu is a huge driver behind the annual Fiji Day Event at Sunnybank each year. It doesn’t get any more Local Legendary status than him! Ratu, we thank you!

Our Local Legend this quarter is Robyn Simpson who has been volunteering as a Scout Leader at Mt Gravatt South Scout Group for over 28 years! What a fantastic contribution to our community!

Not only has Robyn committed so many years to Scouts, but along with her husband Darryl they also help numerous charities, such as Orange Sky and Signal Flare who help the homeless, and people doing it tough.

So our thanks go out to Robyn and her husband Darryl for being the very definition of a Local Legend! It’s volunteers like Robyn and Darryl that make our local community a better place and we can’t thank them enough!
