An accessible boating adventure on the Sunshine Coast!

I recently enjoyed a fantastic day exploring the Maroochydore River with Good Vibes Boating Adventures.

With flat entry access and space for power-drive wheelchairs, this trip was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the water alongside friends and carers. From cruising the canals and fish & chips and trying my hand at steering the boat, it was an experience full of fun and memorable moments!

Could Tasmania really work as a road-trip destination for a power wheelchair user? ♿

In May, I spent eight unforgettable nights exploring Tasmania’s East Coast, Launceston and Hobart—and the adventure included far more than I expected!

From finding accessible accommodation and hiring a wheelchair-accessible van to flying over Wineglass Bay by helicopter, visiting Port Arthur and getting unexpectedly stranded on a gondola, this trip certainly had its surprises. 🚐🚁🏔️

In my latest article, I share the places we visited, what worked well, the accessibility challenges we encountered and the practical lessons that could help other wheelchair users plan their own Tasmanian adventure.

Tasmania was more accessible than many people may realise—but preparation, flexibility and a willingness to adapt made all the difference.
