Have you heard of a Letter of Wishes?

When you come to see us about Estate Planning we help you create one so that people you care about know what to do if anything happens to you.

It’s not something you want to leave to chance.

Big questions your executor will wish you could help answer include:

• Where are all your important documents stored?
• What do you want your funeral to look like? Should I invite your ex?
• Who are the friends or advisers I should turn to for assistance in relation to financial planning, accounting services, legal advice, insurances, stockbroking, religious guidance or other matters regarding your estate?
• Who cares for the kids, and what are your wishes and directions regarding their care and support?
• What are your wishes regarding property which you controlled but which does not form part of your estate, such as assets in family trusts or superannuation?
• Are there any messages you want conveyed to anyone?
• Is there anything else you would like me to address or consider when administering your estate?
If you die the executor of your will receives the letter and can carry out your wishes.

And let me tell you, it’s a relief for loved ones knowing it’s all spelt out and they don’t have to guess.
