We are proposing updates to Subordinate Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2014 to strengthen how short-term accommodation (STA) is licensed and managed.

These changes focus on how STA operates, building on the Planning Scheme amendments that address where STA is appropriate. The new Planning Scheme STA precincts in the Low Density Residential Zone will commence 30 March 2026.

Proposed improvements to the local law include:

• Clearer rules on which accommodation types require an STA licence
• Licence numbers displayed on booking platforms to support compliance
• Stronger complaint response requirements for property managers
