Even though the proposal for the Empire State Building appeared romantic in the online world, it is not so from the perspective of the law.

Unauthorized entry into restricted zones might lead to accusations including burglary, criminal trespassing, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal tampering, disorderly conduct, and possession of burglar’s tools, among others, according to the New York State laws.

NCLT delays are no longer just a procedural concern. In insolvency matters, every delay can reduce business value, weaken resolution plans and keep creditors, employees and vendors stuck in uncertainty.

The IBC was designed for speed because distressed businesses cannot wait endlessly. In corporate litigation, delay does not just affect a case. It affects the entire business ecosystem.

In C.S. Prasad v. C. Satyakumar, 2026 SCC OnLine SC 50, the Division Bench of the Supreme Court clarified an important point in property litigation.

A dispute may look civil because it involves property rights, title, POA, or settlement deeds.

But if the complaint also alleges cheating, forgery, conspiracy, or use of forged documents, criminal proceedings cannot be casually quashed.

The existence of a civil dispute does not automatically erase criminal liability.

Where serious allegations require evidence, the proper place is trial, not shortcut quashing under Section 482 CrPC.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) vs. Rwanda case at the International Court of Justice does not just mark another international controversy.

There is a larger legal question here: could there be accountability of a state for acts of violence committed via armed groups and across the border?

Congo claims that Rwanda was involved in violence in eastern Congo for decades. Rwanda refutes those claims. And now the ICJ may address the matters of proof of facts, state liability, human rights abuse, and compensation.

The matter of accountability under international law does not only involve the one who holds the weapon.

In some cases, the question is about who supported the conflict.

What is clear from the Pune trek death incident? Social media can quickly give judgments, but courts operate solely on evidence.

In the absence of any evidence, the benefit of the doubt is accorded. But if there is evidence regarding planning, motive, and participation, the law acts ruthlessly.

The truth is never taken for granted in matters of justice; it always has to be proved in court.

Divorce does not involve making the loudest arguments for child custody.

Child custody revolves around the well-being, safety, education, comfort, and development of the child.

Custody, visiting rights, and guardianship are not the same, but they are related.
One parent may be granted custody while the other visiting rights.

The actual issue at hand is not winning over the child. It is in the best interests of the child at all times.

Litigation does not always have to be a struggle to the bitter end of the final verdict.

In Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. v. Cherian Varkey Construction Co. (P) Ltd., (2010) 8 SCC 24., the Supreme Court has emphasized the significance of ADR pursuant to Section 89 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.

Disputes which can be settled can be referred for mediation, conciliation, Lok Adalat, arbitration, or compromise.

What is not intended is that every dispute must be drawn out endlessly.

It is only necessary that the best forum, procedure, and method be found for settling the dispute.

Beneficial Ownership understanding is essential in the contemporary corporate world.

It assists in identifying the real parties involved in controlling and benefiting from a corporation, despite the fact that their names are not mentioned as beneficial owners.

The regulations assist in avoiding activities such as money laundering and other financial crimes because they require corporate structures to be made transparent through the regulation of beneficial ownership.

The thresholds required to qualify one as a beneficial owner depend on various situations. In India, for example, the Significant Beneficial Owner (SBO) concept established under the 2013 Companies Act and regulations made in 2018 requires a minimum of 10%.

Nevertheless, the Companies Act (2013) mentions 25% as a general reference, and other thresholds might be used in different circumstances.

The WhatsApp acquisition by Facebook illustrates how vision trumps quick gains.

In 2014, Facebook purchased WhatsApp for $21.8 billion, changing the course of world communication.

The purchase was not motivated by immediate gains; rather, it was motivated by network domination and size.

It changed the dynamics of messaging and set a new standard for tech mergers and acquisitions.

Compliance errors never happen abruptly; they tend to build up over time.

Neglecting regulatory changes, poor record keeping, international issues, and filing delays might be costly for a business, both financially and reputationally.

In most cases, fines are not the result of ill will, but rather an unfortunate consequence of not paying attention. Good governance and compliance are vital for growth.

Compliance is a must for any modern business.
