The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, Sean Fraser, has announced the addition of 13 new countries to the electronic travel authorization (eTA) program. Residents from the following countries can now travel to Canada (by air) without having to apply for a Temporary Residence Visa:

- Antigua and Barbuda
- Argentina
- Costa Rica
- Morocco
- Panama
- Philippines
- Seychelles
- St. Kitts and Nevis
- St. Lucia
- St Vincent and Grenadines
- Thailand
- Trinidad and Tobago
- Uruguay

Only those who have held a Canadian visa in the last ten years or hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa can be eligible for the program. This measure will significantly help thousands to travel to Canada much faster and more affordably.
